Dr. Burns graduated summa cum laude from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago in 2000 and was voted alumni of the year in 2023. He attended residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical and contniued to further his skills with time spent at the Russian Ilizarov Scientific Center for Restorative Traumatology and Orthopaedics in Kurgan, Russia. He has also become part of AO North America faculty, training residents and practicing physicians the proper execution of internal fixation.
Dr. Burns now practices within the West Virginia University Medicine Health System where he recently started the first and only podiatric residency in the state of West Virginia. Dr. Burns has spent his entire career educating with interests and experience including fracture management, arthroplasty and patient specific implants, management of complex foot and ankle deformity and neuropathic preservation techniques.
